Everyone wants to reach the elusive goal of their potential…We all have “potential”, but few of us actually ever realize it.
In the current economic climate, job seekers and employees are wondering, what’s next? For career strategies that deliver results, Chris Westfall recommends the following:
- Accelerating your career sometimes starts with establishing what it is that you want to do when you grow up. And being grown up, after all, is just a state of mind. There’s no “statute of limitations” on change. Some of my clients are looking for transformation; some just want a promotion, or a similar role at a different company. Do you deserve to do what you want to do with your life? I believe the answer is “yes”.
- Do you cut your own hair? Me either, although some have accused me of it. It can be incredibly difficult to sell yourself, when you are the product, the seller, the dutiful employee and the jobseeker, all at once. You don’t have to go it alone.
- Find a coach you can trust. The best coaches are the ones who understand what you are going through, and know how to make the transformation you need. Ask your coach, “What transformations have you made, and what have you helped others to accomplish?” While past performance is no indication of future results, you can bet that patterns of the past are great markers for how someone deals with the future.
- Look for signs of innovation and creativity. Changing the status quo requires creative solutions. For things to be different, you have to think differently. Find a coach who doesn’t offer advice; look for the one who helps you to think in new and different ways. That’s the connection you need, to start your career transformation. " deleted -->
